Hey et al. 2017 describes a reference transcriptome for maize root hairs. Functional annotation highlights the importance of energy metabolism in root hairs. Furthermore the data, together with other transcriptomic data from the Hochholdinger-lab was made publicly available via a new "root-view" in the eFP browser.
