Marcel successfully defended his thesis in December 2022, which focused on the functional characterization of the maize lateral rootless 1 gene. Li completed her defense in February 2023, conducting research on the identification and functional characterization of ENHANCED GRAVITROPISM 2 controlling the root setpoint angle in barley. Additionally, Li was awarded the faculty prize for the best thesis in plant science during this ceremony.
