Research focus

I am working as a postdoctoral researcher in Prof. Armin Djamei’s lab since January 2021. During my Ph.D., I studied the role of SMALL UBIQUITIN LIKE MODIFIERs (SUMO proteins) in plant defense signaling. Currently at Djamei’s lab, by using molecular biology and genetic approaches, I am interested to understand how effector proteins from the phytopathogenic fungus Ustilago maydis manipulate auxin signaling in the host plant, maize towards its own benefits.
