Gene Network Evolution
Many traits are not regulated by single genes only. The concept of gene modules consisting of multiple functionally related genes has proven useful. By comparing gene interactions across different species, we search for gene modules, which represent functional innovations and adaptations.
Comparison of Gene Coexpression Networks
In this project we develop a pipeline to construct coexpression networks from public databases and integrate them with phylogenetic data. Furthermore, we also develop a method for scoring similarity between two networks to effectively compare gene interactions of two species. With our approach, we aim to search and find clusters of interacting genes whose presence or absence correlates with a trait of interest. Thereby we may identify multigene innovations linked to the trait of interest.
