Forschungsschwerpunkt

I am interested in plant nutrition and plant stress tolerance; with a special focus on the role of endomembrane ion transporters and the integration of ion transport across different membranes. I am particularly interested in ion transporters in small compartments of the endomembrane system, such as the Endoplasmic Reticulum, Golgi and Trans-Golgi-Network/Early-Endosome. Loss of such ion transporters leads to severe phenotypic defects, in the model plant Arabidopsis but also in crops such as rice and soybean. The aim of my research is to decipher the cellular roles of endomembrane ion transporters and to elucidate their role in plants and how they contribute to improved stress tolerance.
